IAOBA Lending Library

Rhonda Leinberger of n Point Hills - IAOBA Librarian

The IAOBA lending library was formed as a benefit and service to the members of the Illinois Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association, for general education purposes and to enhance the knowledge of Alpaca's use, welfare, health and for most of us, enjoyment. The library offers free loans of printed materials/equipment to current members of the organization. A list of library materials/equipment is published and updated periodically both on line at www.iaoba.com and in the Newsletter. The librarian will also have a listing of the library material available at each general membership meeting for members to reserve from. The library collection has been developed through the generosity of Alpaca owners. Donations of materials/equipment to the library are greatly welcome.

Library Rules

Borrowing

To make a request, please contact the librarian or print an email-able or snail mail-able request form from the IAOBA website. If materials/equipment is not immediately available, the borrower will be informed and will be given the option of receiving that materials/equipment when they returned to the library. All requests must in include the borrower's name, full address and phone number. Please include e-mail or fax numbers, if available.

Policies

Loan Periods - Two weeks plus one week of round-trip transportation.

Shipment - Member is will be responsible for postage of all requested materials/equipment both from and to the library. A check for postage may be sent directly to the librarian. A return "postage pre-paid" slip will accompany the borrowed items. Materials/equipment will be shipped with protective packaging to prevent shipping damages.

Material condition - All material must be returned in the condition in which they were received. Borrowers must promptly notify the librarian and their post office of any materials that are received in damaged condition. Extra care should be given to items borrowed from the library so that may others may also benefit from them. Coffee stains, torn covers and pages, items left in the weather, etc., on printed materials, are not considered normal wear and tear.

Equipment condition - Damage from abuse, improper use or using equipment for reasons other than its intended purpose will become the responsibility of the borrower.

Notice: Borrowers are responsible for damage, loss, or theft of items borrowed from the library, and they will be billed for the cost to replace the item(s).

Renewals - Borrowers may request, by fax, phone or e-mail a one-week extension for any borrowed material. This extension will be automatically granted provided no other member has requested the same material. Request for renewals must be received one week before the due date.

Late Fees - A charge of 25 cent per day will be assessed on any printed material overdue. Borrower will be invoiced for the replacement cost of any printed material overdue by two weeks or more.

Returns Policy - In addition to the daily overdue fine on each book, magazine, newsletter, the following procedure will apply if material/equipment borrowed from the IAOBA Library is not returned in good condition by the due date indicated on each item:

1. Librarian contacts delinquent borrower regarding unreturned materials/equipment. If materials/equipment are not returned promptly, librarian contacts an IAOBA Board member who then contacts borrower.

2. If materials/equipment then becomes 30 days overdue, a certified letter, signed by the IAOBA president, will be sent to the borrower. The letter will provide the borrower 7 days from the day of receipt for the materials/equipment to be returned or the replacement cost to be received at the library.

3. IAOBA membership will not be renewed until materials/equipment are returned or replacement costs are received.

Suggestions for New Materials/Equipment - Members may request materials/equipment to be added to the Library Collection. Requests made to librarian will be forwarded to the IAOBA Board.
